So yeah. While we were out of town for a few days, we had an uninvited guest. He kicked in our back door, spread out a piece of cardboard on the floor, and spent at least one night.
My pop-in-law was outside working on the yard, and got the feeling someone was watching him. He walked around the back and saw the door ajar, walked in and was surprised to find someone in the house. Long story short, pop told him he'd better get on his way, like right now, to which he complied.
He didn't go far though. Turns out that he had hitchhiked from across the state, leaving everything behind, to pursue his true love. Well, upon arrival, he found she had another. Lost and lovelorn, the poor guy ended up at the neighbor's place and wouldn't leave, so my neighbor ended calling the sheriff to get the guy some help.
A bit weird, a little unnerving, and uncool that he broke our door down. But, the place looked pretty abandoned, so I guess I can muster up some compassion for the guy. Anyone who'd curl up to sleep on a floor covered in garbage, fiberglass insulation, rusty nails and dog turds has to be in a pretty desperate place.
I ended up securing the doors and posting a "No Trespassing" sign anyway.
Is that wrong?
